SC WAVE has joined the National Academy League (NAL) with teams now forming at U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, and U19 for the 2023/24 season. NAL is a boys’ platform organized by the nation’s top academy clubs with the goal of enhancing each club’s developmental pathway. SC Wave boys' second teams will compete in the platform’s Mid-America conference with the club’s first teams continuing in MLS NEXT.
“This was an easy decision for us given the quality of clubs coming together to form this new league,” said Marcio Leite - SC Wave Boys Director. “We have a great relationship with our fellow NAL Mid-America members, most of whom we already play against in MLS NEXT. We are excited to provide our second teams with such a high-level playing environment.”
Joining SC Wave in the NAL Mid-America Conference are Michigan Jaguars, Michigan Wolves, Vardar, Midwest United, Bavarian United, Sockers FC Chicago, Indiana Fire, CUP, and Javanon.
NAL is a traditional seven-month platform at U15 – U19, while the U13 and U14 age groups play a 10-month calendar. Clubs will play at a showcase event in December as part of the IMG Cup College Showcase, and there will be a National Championship competition in June.
More information will be available in the coming weeks.
